This is a bit of a random question, but recent events got me thinking about it. (BC resident and currently there’s an entire town burning to the ground not too far from where I live)

Should such a thing ever be necessary, does anyone have plans during an evacuation to bring their fishy friends, or just top up the ATO and hope for the best? Especially for those of you who have enormous tanks with many large fish? Easy enough to put a clown in a bucket with a heater and air stone, but what about an adult emperor angel? Or a 2’ moray eel?

Fortunately that is not yet the case for me, and I have everything on hand to keep my current critters alive indefinitely as long as I have power. But seeing as I plan to have a big tank with big fish, thought I should bring up the subject while it is on my mind.

ps: Basements are amazing, I have no doubt I would have lost my tank if I kept it upstairs. Had to move my freshwater tank because I couldn’t keep the temperature down.

There’s no possible way that I’d ever be able to catch a single fish in time if there were an emergency, that just an unfortunate fact.
It took me and my husband over 4 hours to catch and remove the fish in our 220 when we just broke it down, and that’s WITH us removing all the rock so they couldn’t hide.
Honestly, the tank would be the LAST thing on my mind…

where’s my spouse and where’s my cats are all I’d care about.

Agree with all above… put your tank/livestock on your insurance policy. It would suck to lose, but at least it can be replaced. Your lives cannot

I can buy more fish and coral

I can't buy a 2nd life if I die...so run to the hills leaving everything to fend for themselves
