Anyone have a 300+ gallon tank. On my 225 I used to get a few gallons a week of evap. Now on the 300 im litterally getting 3-5 gallons / day of evap.. and just seems like its excessively high. I swear i feel like there is a leak somewhere but ive checked everywhere and nothing..

A larger water surface area will have more evaporation, sounds normal,my 240 was around 3 gallons per day.

makes sense cause the 225 was more high then surface area.. so makes sense... thanks.. i guess iw was just like its only 75 gallons where the hell is all the water going.. lol

Benny, I get between 2-5 gallons a day on my tank depending on the time of year. its a 180 with a 150 sump so I have alot of surface area outside in the garage.

thanks.. yeah i guess i just was kinda shocked between the difference on the 225 and the 300... the 225 was 6x2 where the 300 is 6x3 plus the added fuge and larger sump... guess its just that much of a difference.. haha ohh wells.. guesss new filters for the rodi are bout to get installed.. lol

Not only is the increased surface area going to increase the Evap rate, but also surface agitation. If you have more waves and ripples you'll get more Evap because it is essentially creating even more surface area. On days my mp40's go crazy and blow hard all day (reefcrest mode) i get a lot of Evap.

During the winter months when you are heating your home you will more evaporation especialy if you have a gas furnace. Also when the humity level is low outside more evaporation.

YUP! Ill say this. with the sump in my garage, if I dont put the insulated covers on it, my garage is a nice 60°. with the covers it gets into the mid 40's.
