Evaporation from my tank and sump

I've got concerns that my tank is evaporating to much into my house and that it may make it mouldy as some of the window trims are already going a bit black, I was thinking of buying a sheet of two mill perspex and put it over the dt to stop it, has anyone ever done this? And would you thing it will affect the light as I've got an over head light?

What kind of lights do you have. I tried that with some plexiglass and my LEDs started warping it.

I'll send you a pick they come with the tank when I bought them, I think they are just cheap chinese ones

Just be aware if you place it over the top like that, and basically seal it up to prevent evaporation, you are also preventing gas exchange, which could have a far worse effect on your tank then some perspex warping. You may have to turn the skimmer up a bit to compensate for this.

Try a fan near the tank so the moisture can be blown around.

The evaporation also helps with heat dissipation. I had to remove the glass lids from my 125 way back, cause the temp would creep up when the lights were on. Don't know if that's an issue with your lights. You could try a dehumidifier for the months that you can't have good outside ventilation.
