My dad is big into freshwater and had some massive fish in his tanks, in particular a Pleco the size of my 10 year old forearm that he would pet on its belly whenever he walked by. One day it disappeared, 8 years later he was reupholstering the couch and under the end that faced the tank, about 4 feet away, it was completely mummified, stuck in a small fold of fabric between the sofa and the floor.

I had a brackish tank in my bedroom when I was in highschool. A four inch goby went missing one day and I couldn't find it anywhere. I blamed my pet raccoon and moved on with my life. Several years later, as I was packing to leave for college, I found it mummified at the back of the closet on the opposite side of the room. (Actually the raccoon found it and I took it away from her).

1 of my zebra moray eels managed to get into the sump. One of the filter socks felt oddly heavy on maintenance day and it wasn't until I went to the sink to dump sock contents that he came out too.

Honestly thinking back on it I'm really lucky he didn't bite my fingers. But both my zebras are sweethearts

My dad had a pet raccoon when he was a kid. He said it turned super mean when it grew up and they had to get rid of it.

My friend had a racoon growing up. It would walk right in the house eat from the dog dish. Freaked me out the first time I saw it.
