Happened to me the other day... I lost track of the time and when I remembered, the lights on my tanks were either out or in the moon phase. Wasn't sure what to do.

I turned on the lights and fed, but, they weren't interested. So I put the lights back into their programming and waited until the next day.

What do you do when you forget to feed?

All the time;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious

I just feed them if they are still out or wait till the next feeding time.:)

I can't count the number of times I've thawed the food only to discover later I never fed it to the tank. If the lights are still on I go ahead and feed. If not, it goes down the kitchen sink and I try it again the next day.

I've learned that fish are very hardy when it comes to food. I used to go every 3 days for feeding, as a way to keep nutrients in check. (I don't do this anymore, because I have a lot more fish than I did then. I think when I was doing 3 days, it was a resourceful fish that would eat algae/pods in between). Either way, my fish never showed any signs of having been 'starved'. Now I feed daily, with the occasional miss, at which point I feed the next day with no problem.

Mine always look at me like " yeah, enjoy that doughnut..." Seriously, this makes me wonder about my feeding. I vary foods. I also switch up day feeding and night feeding. Any negatives to this?

Every now and then when I go for an evening motorcycle ride I'll miss an evening feeding. They're fine until the next morning. Their wild brethren don't always find food on a regular schedule and do just fine. Likewise with healthy inhabitants of our tanks. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if an occasional missed meal does their digestive system a bit good ... the denizens of my little 24g kingdom are a touch on the chubby side 'cause they eat like little pigs.

I have koi in an outdoor pond. One day a pelican decided to eat all my koi, so I thought.
But six months later I discovered that there was actually a single koi still there.
Though i hadn't fed it at all in six months it had increased in size.
