I was going through an older build thread here on R2R, and found this picture... And it got me thinking...I've had corals eat crabs and snails before, but never had one feed on a fish yet. How about you guys? How crazy would this be!?

RIP little bangaii cardinal.

I've heard of carpet and magnifica anenomes catching and eating fish. We occasionally have fed a magnifica a dying fish at my LFS (less pain for the fish and food for anenome)

Least likely to eat a small perching fish? Trachy, lobo, scoly?

I had an acan snag a red lined cardinal.

I don’t know what happened to the cardinal as I just fed tank and say the trio of them. I believe it may have got stung by a newly added H Magnifica but I am not for sure.

Anyway, I found him here and removed him. Not sure if the acan could have ate it or not.

He didn’t technically eat him but he did try. So did the mini max and this guy.
Shrimp was bigger than both of them.

My Rhyzo has caught 2 or 3 fish over the years. For sure 1 anthias and royal gramma but I think one other fish. It is really sticky and I have got my hand caught on more then one occasion where once I finally got it off a tentacle or 2 came with it.

When I found the royal gramma it was just a pile of yellow and purple goo.

My father once got a blue tang, put it in his tank and it went straight into a carpet anemone. Didn’t last more than 2 mins in the tank. Expensive meal for the anemone

Heck yeah! I had a bunch of smaller fish disappear over the course of a few months. Never managed to figure out the reason before I saw my large bubble coral ingesting a anthias. I’ve had these several times but never encountered that behavior before.

I had a cup coral eat a pair of bonded perculas.

I don't have any photos of it, but I have a large tube anemone (6" canopy when tentacles are completely out) that ate two small hippo tangs, one small flame angel, and a very small Catalina goby. I finally got rid of the $50 tube anemone because it ate $200 worth of fish.

That would be heartbreaking
