Have you ever saved a coral that was bleached or browned out or almost dead, maybe you bought it that way or something happened to your tank that almost killed it. Post up you before and after pic of coral that you almost killed but end up saving or bought and saved it. Explain a little about what happened and if you did anything special to try and recover it. I like to see when things or at there worst and then everything ends up coming out better then it was.

sorry I dont have pics but to keep the momentum going ill state what i saw

have seen seemingly dead, months without flesh plerogyra spit out new anthocauli on the edges of the septa where there was no prior mass.

have seen numerous euphyllia bone white for months come back from the dead center, the best at this is caulastrea though. w trick you every time
(killed by various insults, stinging from other corals, falling face down frag in the back of the tank had to give up on it but upon access it comes back from an all white skeleton)

never seen sps do any neat things like that. for me, dead was dead

I had a pretty large toadstool that for what ever reason died on me. It started to rot so I knee it was dead. I plucked off as much as I possibly could. Then a few months later I start seeing small polyps coming out of the rock. It was a new toadstool from the tiny piece of the base that was left. I ended up selling it since I bought the tyree green toadstool.

I just dipped my new forest fire digi tonight.
The base was turning white. All other corals are great and chemicals are good.

I found two of these eating it.
Bayer is the key.

in my last tank I had what I called the graveyard. It was this area in the back corner that I'd throw skeletons of coral or snail shells, a mishmash of things that didn't quite make it. Little peices of live rock rubble, that sort of thing. It took on a life of it's own actually and was kinda cool in the end, it had a few mushrooms, some gsp that came from no where....

anyway, I bought a red planet acro frag and it died (i thought) it was totally white and never took off so I threw it in the graveyard and didn't pay it any mind. Months later, when I was tearing down the tank to set up my new one I noticed it had gone from white to a more beige color. It was in almost darkness for a long time but thought hey I'll throw this frag in the new tank. 5 months later its fully recovered and like 5 times the size it was when I put it in the new tank. It's encrusted and taken off and fully colored up. I couldn't believe it...

I have saved a couple that I thought was dead. Put them in the corner of my tank, similar to Phishy's grave yard, and a couple of months later had them come back.

I have a few corals that I have saved from a single or couple polyps. I don't think I have pics though.

The craziest attempt to save a coral was when my friend's house burnt down. He wasn't allowed back into the house for days. Average temp was 40 degrees outside. The fire came up through the floor right in front of the tank. Tank was shot, house totaled, but we took all the live rock out. As we did that, we saw the elegance and a leather still had flesh on it. I put them in a QT tank and placed a light above them. I got polyp extension from both corals, but I think it was just the last stretch of life before they died off. The tank turned super cloudy after a week or so and both corals ended up dead. However it was well worth the effort to try get them to survive and surely would have been a great story to tell.
