Ever see a sand sifter starfish spawn?

So interestingly, my sand sifting starfish spawned tonight. It got itself into a table pose, then let loose. All the dots are little larvae looking things.

Are they able to produce viable offspring without sexual reproduction? Very neat.

Over a year. I got it from a friend who also had it for a while.

Dunno. Things from the ocean have all kinds of weird tricks to survive. The larvae just became coral food in my tank. The rest were sucked into the filter. I don't anticipate any of them surviving, but who knows.

So cool.!!! Never seen that. My orange starfish lost a leg then the leg grew a body which i was amazed that could even happen. Looked so weird till it was a complete starfish.

I've got a couple of them but one lost all of its legs a couple years ago... seemingly all at once. No idea how or why it happened but I had a stump of a starfish for a long time. It survived and it took forever to grow the legs back. Now it's just about half the size of the other one but otherwise looks normal. So weird.

Mine did the same as well a few weeks ago, then a couple of hours later my tank started to crash & my fish were jumping out! I had to do a 30% water change the first day then about 50% two days after. I lost all my fish except my clowns & starfish, only because I managed to pull them out in between the 2 water changes into a temporary container of fresh saltwater. I still don’t know why my tank crashed. Everything is back to normal now & I’ve restocked on some fish.

Do you have moon lights or seasonal temp swings that may have triggered this? What do you feed your tank?
