Everything is dying

Nope. I clean stuff with dawn soap and never go near the tank with it.

Yea, I figured you know, but worth it to rule it out. I'd lean into the bacterial bloom, too at this point; but that's not my expertise, so I'll tune into the other advice you receive here and best of luck!

Based off what you have said, it sounds like a bacteria bloom. I would personally take the following actions now, even if you have done so already:

- Perform another 30% water change, and continue to do this every day until the bloom dissipates.
- Swap out your filter media (sponges, carbon, etc)
- Look for anything that could have died, as it could feed the bloom
- Consider a GFO as well, like Chemipure Elite (or Brightwell Purit, although I don't think that is GFO)
okay I guess I’ll give that a try

all parameters couldn’t be more perfect.

temp and salinity stay pretty stable

1.What are your actual parameters?
2.What constitutes "pretty stable"?
3.What kind of fish/coral and how long have they been in your tank?
4.When is the last time you changed your carbon?
5.When was the last time you cleaned your sponge filters?
6.What do you use for water movement and gas exchange?

Skimmers do more than reduce nutrients. If you're concerned about this though, remove the skimmer cup so you're still getting good oxygenation.

So turns out it was a bacterial bloom, hooked up a uv sterilizer I had laying around to a canister filter and overnight the water was clear. the fish are now eating and the corals are opening way more. thanks for helping me find the issue guys!!
