As some of you may know, we had a health-related setback a few years back. I got back into the hobby for stress relief with everything that was going on but now that everyone is feeling better we've set new priorities for our lives. In that spirit, and due to some great people I've met overseas and a real cool work environment, we're going to spend some time living overseas next year. To prepare for that I'm going to have to try to shut the tank down over the next several months. In order to make sure I succeed at this, I've decided to start offering corals out of the tank.
The tank has really grown into a box of Skittles with rainbow corals represented throughout. For many of the corals, esp. the SPS, I was fortunate to obtain those corals at wholesale (although from a WYSIWYG wholesaler, so a bit more than standard "grab-bag" wholesale). I'll offer corals for what I paid for less, and obviously if you want to purchase more then I can offer a better discount.
I've got about 1/2 SPS, 1/2 LPS/zoas, with probably around 70 corals total. Once the corals are out (or close to out), I'll offer the fish. I've had every coral and fish for at least 9 months, most over a year, and all are doing well.
Some of the more vibrant corals, larger costlier colonies I've already offered to the club to add to the library for fragging and distribution. I don't yet know what the club will end of getting but I'm going to hold off posting those corals until I hear back from them. No hurries, no worries. I'll start to offer a few here that aren't candidates for fragging but anyone is welcome to come over and pick them out first-hand. Many of the SPS are pretty well grown on to the rock so I may have to wait to "harvest" them but I can try if one is anxious to get them or hold them with a partial payment until I can remove the rock and cut the colony out intact. Many are over 6"...
Caution, for some reason I can't photograph corals. Don't let the pictures deter you if they didn't turn out well. If you're interested, LMK, come look, etc. No one is ever under any obligation as far as I'm concerned but it is first-come, first-served.
The tank would be next but I'm less concerned about that. If we decide to settle down again then I can always start it up but if there is interest, then I can do that too. I'm pretty flexible on this whole deal...
Just to start things out, here is my pride and joy wellso. This guy was primo cherry picked and although tough to tell from the picture, it is truly a "rainbow Aussie" wellso. There are hints of yellow and pink throughout the rim, a very unusual combination indeed. I paid $150 and was lucky to get it, 2 other "lesser" wellsos sold less than an hour later for the same price. Therefore, that is what I'll start out asking for this coral:
