I broke down my original Evo 13.5 build - https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/matthews-evo-13-5.318536/ - because it really just wasn't what I wanted it to be. I had gotten lazy with water changes and was not maintaining to the point of getting a lot of undesirable algae.

I have also been doing a lot of research and learning since then and feel like I have actually started obtaining a beginners knowledge of the ins and outs of running a reef tank.

I have been cleaning everything up, modifying the Evo, and plan to start fresh with a whole new design and different goal for the tank.

Some initial pictures to follow!

I've been pretty busy and have gotten ahead of myself without very good documentation but I will post some pics showing progress below.
- everything cleaned
- new RODI system installed
- tank modifications complete and plumbing installed
- Marco dry rock scape built
- filled tank with water to test for leaks and test flow around rock
- starting to build a RODI storage/saltwater mixing station

Here is the rock work.

Plumbing - Vivid Creative Aquatics 3/4" random flow generator and 3" flare nozzle now share the output from the Innovative Marine Mighty Jet DC return pump. I also cut in some extra slots for the overflow to keep up with the increased flow from the pump.
Still using the Aquamaxx HOB 1.5 skimmer and Cobalt Neo-therm heater. Otherwise the back chamber is completely open and I will probably put carbon back there later.

Looking good! Nice setup!

Nice! I like the floating look. I’m assuming the glass is fully supported?

I sure hope so! - the tank was manufactured floating by Fluval. I have had it for about a year now and haven't seen any signs of stress on the glass or had any leaks.

I like the scape!
