Fluval Evo 13.5

Some pics and writing to track my evo build

Will try to keep this thread updated with latest info on my evo, hopefully this will help me track progress and changes.

Hardware:
Ai Prime HD
Sicce voyager nano 2000lph
Sicce Syncra 0.5
DFlow chamber 1&2 media basket
H2Ocean compact ATO

In the tank:
2 clowns
Cleaner shrimp
Turbo snail
2x Astrea snail
Conch
Zoa rock
Xenia
Mushrooms
Frogspawn
Kung pao monti
Orange monti
3x acros
Gsp
Goniopora

I’m currently debating if I should take the sand out, currently I have to do more cleaning than I’d like battling algae. I believe my tank is going through a new ugly phase and the new live rock is turning brown. My ATO is needing a better answer too, as the level in my chambers changes day to day, which can cause salinity to drop if I don’t keep my eye on it.

Congratulations on the new adventure!!! Sometimes the best way to deal with the ugly stage is to not let it get out of hand and just get through it. Trying to fix everything can sometimes create new openings for other unwanted stuff to fill the gaps. Good luck!

That’s my current strategy! I wonder how long it’ll last

Great looking tank!

Algae seems to be getting easier to deal with lately, hope that’s a good sign of things to come.

Unfortunately my Green Acro isn’t doing too well, it has some white on its base when I got it and it’s slowly spreading.

Everything else seems to be doing well

I'd keep the sand in. For algea and cyano, I had success with the Green Killing Machine. The 9watt model. A good sand blast and siphon of what's there, and a couple weeks with that little in-tank UV killing off anything in the water column worked really well for me. Also used it to beat back a pretty stubborn heterotroph bloom. I have the IM 14g peninsula tank so I'd say it's similar in layout and volume. Should be just as effective for what you've got.

I typically don't like to recommend someone go buy new gear to solve a problem, but UV really can turn the tide sometimes, and with small tanks like ours plumbing in some huge $200 or more UV contraption is a harder sell.

Added a tail spot blennie and since then I’ve been a bit light on the cleaning lately so going to go back to 15 mins a day as he’s settled in now,

Next item on my shopping list is a uv steriliser

Best of luck with getting an uv sterilizer

I’m jelly of your Zoa rock. Your tank looks good. I’m just stating out. Two months in and things are good but I’m pretty terrible about figuring out placement.

Beutiful tank, love the zoa garden.
How's the tank coming along now?
