I got home from work today and my living room reeked like rotten algae. I wanted to gag :bad_smelly:I just did a water change friday night but decided I should do another one. As I was getting ready I noticed my not so fancy acro colony was bleaching big time. the zooxanthellae was sloughing off or something like that. I pulled the frag out and almost puked, it absolutly stank. I chucked it and did a waterchange. I am pretty sure I know what caused it and I hope its a isolated incident. When I was doing my water change I did a deep cleaning. Change out the chemi pure new phosphate remover and I pulled my big bag of zeolite out and walked over to the sink. I meant to rinse the debris out with tank water but had a momentary lapse of thought and starting rinsing it in hot tap water. After like 3 seconds it dawned on me the no no I was doing....:waaaht: Anyhow..I put the zeolite back in the tank and gave a double dose of Microbacter in hopes I didnt make too big a boo boo..apparently I did. The rest of my corals look fine so hopefully this doesnt continue. I tossed a nice big baggie of carbon in the rear chambers in hopes that it helps.
