Exact iDip Digital Water Testing

I just talked to Christian @ industrial Test Systems about the Exact idip units.

1. He is offering the MACNA show price till this Friday Kit is $200
2. Thh + Ca does calculate the Magnesium for you

As an estimate, probably. Ask him if it also counts strontium in THH.

So then THH - Calcium = magnesium + strontium. :)

And, of course, the product will be in very strange units that will require conversion (magnesium in units of calcium carbonate equivalents. :D
 
Funny cause yesterday they told me they could not do mag yet.

Just called them again and he said yes they do not have a mag test but I can get my mag levels by letting the app do the math from the other test.

I'm really excited to see everyone talking about our product! From what I read everything you guys are saying looks accurate, the tests for marine water are currently being reworked and validated because MACNA was our debut in the marine aquarium world. We are excited about catering all of our chemistries to this market and love all the feed back we are getting, keep it coming!

This is correct our in app calculation expressed total hardness and calcium hardness as ppm CaCO3 and then makes an auto-calculation for Mg. This is assuming contribution from strontium is negligible, from what I understand strontium would be two orders of magnitude smaller concentration than magnesium correct?

That is correct that the correction is pretty small. Do you know if your calcium sensor responds to strontium. Many do. If so, the error is in the calcium number, not the magnesium number.

One of your competitors had a similar issue where it impacted the calcium measurement. They subtract a typical NSW value for strontium from the calcium value, and I indicated to them that the 0.5-1% error in calcium from variations in strontium wouldn't be a big deal.

Due to the type of chemistry we employ for the calcium test I think strontium interference would be unlikely. It's quite possible however that the total hardness test would pick up interference from all the Group 2 metals
 
$200 was for the kit with reagents. THH, PH, ALK, CA, Nitrate & Phosphate. Refill Kit was $50
Meter by itself was only $120
 
I paid in all 240 and some change the one on the site for 179 comes with the same app take a look it was not a big deal for me so I gave them the 200 with no mention of the site price.

Even nature has a hard time distinguishing strontium from calcium. That's why strontium gets into coral skeletons in place of calcium and in an amount proportional to the amount in the seawater. :)
