I'm very happy with this kit. Any time I've had a result I thought was erroneous retesting multiple times has been within 1-2ppm. My only complaint is the lack of magnesium test which I know is coming. I think as more tests are introduced in the marine space the better the investment will become.

If you read my last post I give my opinion around my experience. I can say that for Calcium the numbers have been a bit all over the map for me.
If I compare the numbers for Cal test.
example...
idip cal = 296
Hanna cal = 390
Salifert Cal= 420
I have been testing all 3 and it makes me wonder at times how off my tank really is... The variation from test to test and then you add the human error element just is alarming at times..
As i said before. I think the idip is a decent product just may need some more time to get the bugs ironed out.. I will continue to use it with the hopes it will be my goto testing method..

Once they get the issues fixed I would buy it. But the difference in those numbers are just to much for me to chance it.... I dont think the mag coming out for it makes it better...
I trust hanna and salifert more then I would this at this time... to much money invested in my corals to risk it

They may be not my first go to test for Calcium which its not... I use salifert for calcium.
The example above is a heck of a difference between the 2.. to much of a difference for a tank that depends on more accurate results imo

Consistency means more to me than accuracy. I havent used salifert calcium, I've used red sea and to me just way too many variables for consistency. I cannot repeat a red sea test and get the same result. Whereas when I've repeated the idip multiple times they are within 1-2ppm. To me I'd rather track that than anything.

Red sea I also dont like. But just because you test with the same test kit and get similar results doesnt mean its accurate.
If your getting low readings like the guy above then overdose to get to the readings you want that could cause issues in the system. Thats all Im saying.

When it gets more accurate results I might get it.. till then I'll use my proven salifert and hanna checkers.

Some of us need to dose our tanks you may not. Most people that dose like me use one test kit. I use salifert for calcium, nitrate, ph, and mag. I use hanna for alk and phosphates. There is no way I would spend $300 on this then $5 each addon to get inaccurate results

I do dose. And I base my results on consumption not some arbitrary test result. Meaning if after a week my numbers drop 20ppm I will set my doser accordingly.
You just said you would buy if the numbers were more accurate. Testing 3 separate times if I get the same result within 1-2ppm I am going to trust more for dosing than one test where the results may vary 20-30ppm.
The $5 per test is irrelevant as its a one time fee. For all the tests you need its basically another $25. A digital nitrate tester is $249 and each hanna is $45. Do the math, its not that much a dealbreaker. So you're either in the market or you're not.

As for hanna I spent $40 each so $80 total then $110 for salifert ph, nitrate, cal, phosphates, alk, mag... so $190 total. I get 25 tests with the hannas and 50 with ea of the saliferts. Hanna refils are $8
