Exact iDip testing system

I bought one and gave it a try. I did not have good results. So far I only ran ph and alk tests. The results were very disappointing. For the ph test I tested the same tank water three times with the device and it read 7.6, 7.7, and 7.6. With my calibrated Apex I got 8.13 and with a Red Sea kit I got 8.1. I than ran the alk test on Fauna Marin Multi-Reference Solution with an alk of 120 ppm. I tested it 4 times on the solution and the iDip got 192, 159, 177, 199 ppm. Verified the solution with my Hanna Checker and got the expected 119 ppm.

IMO this no where near ready for reef keeping. Very disappointing that they would sell it for this purpose when it is obvious that they don't have a clue about the application.

Bought one at MACNA, pretty disappointed. All over the board on readings with calc and ph. The dkh test that comes with the kit doesn't even register my alk or anything lower then 13. The young guy in the video is who i believe i bought it off of at macna.

Sounds like a good concept, but actual use a long ways off. I agree with the above, I can't believe they would sell this for reef keeping if the results are really this far off.

I stopped by the booth at MACNA, and they demonstrated the alkalinity test on a tank they had there. When they were showing the results, they let me scroll through the history of previous alk tests done that same day. They were all over the map! I don't remember the numbers, but I do recall they were greater than 10% +/- from the apparent average. Simply not precise. How could it be, with the reagents being delivered by dissolving from the little strips like that?

The strips are not even all the same size. You have to cull out the odd sizes.

I will also say that the app is not great either. It has two major flaws. One, that it is designed for a swimming pool maintenance provider. And two, the bluetooth integration sucks. For example you have to re-select which test you are doing every time or the bluetooth disconnects and you wast your test. It make testing way more complicated than the alternatives.
