I'm cleaning my power heads today. I started with one of the worst ones. I'm soaking in vinegar and scraping and scrubbing. Any better ideas to get this stuff off?

That's a crazy amount of coralline! Vinegar will probably do the best job of cleaning.

Insane amount! You will probobly need to soak that for a day or so in a potent mix of vinegar.

It's been in there about a year. I just use red Sea's coral pro salt. This tank does not have a lot of coral in it. I planned on waiting for year before adding any. I used 100#s Marco rock and 50#s live rock. Lately I've been having cyano problems, I think because of the reduced flow from the powerheads. Hopefully getting this thick stuff off will help. 100% vinegar seems to soften it up pretty quickly. About a half hour of scraping and scrubbing each powerhead

Vinegar does worh great. I suggest cleaning more often so it will be easier to keep clean.

Heat the vinegar up to a boil then use full strength! Sit back and watch the coralline dissolve, very little scrubbing will be required :)
