I am very new to the hobby, I purchased a 55 gallon tank about three months ago. I've always had fresh water aquariums, but I decided to give salt water a try! I'm proud to say that as of today my tank is stocked with fish! I have a damsel, two clowns, a long-nosed hawkfish, a flame angel, a cleaner shrimp, a powder blue tang, and a black and white heniochus. Everyone seems to be happy and getting along perfectly! I don't have any coral yet, just an anemone, but I plan to start purchasing coral starting this weekend. I'm so excited and can't wait to see where the hobby takes me!

Be armed with water change buckets and test kits because that's a lot of large fish – some expert level – stocked very fast, into a pretty small tank.

Do you have any help with this tank?

I would try to take your time stocking the tank from here out.

@mcarrol I'm armed with buckets, two different test kits, and my fiancé lol Also, my next door neighbor and I have become best friends, he is an older man that used to build, set up, stock, and install salt water aquariums for a living. There's no way I would've made it without his help! Thank you and @Pruett-nc the pointers! I'm always very open to advice!

@Shelby Rose do you have a protein skimmer? With that many fish and you thinking about getting coral it would be a good investment if you don't already have one.

Welcome to R2R!! Yes - before you add coral spend time looking and reading about possibilities. Make a list of corals you are interested in and let some R2R members help guide you.
Some corals that are classified as "begineer" are hardy but can spread quickly in your tank. For example some of the flat mushroom corals will spread throughout your tank. If you love them - great! But if you want corals that stay more contained look at other coral options.

Welcome, I would slow down, nothing good happens in the hobby fast. I hope your anemone makes it as they need an established tank. I would wait another 3 months before I added anything else. Good luck and enjoy this great hobby.

Which corals do you think would be best for me? Are there any that you strongly recommend?
