Exhaust fan needed over larger tanks?

What's your thoughts and more importantly EXPERIENCE with running a larger tank (8 foot +) and the evaporation adding humidity to the house?

Is it something to be concerned about in central California?

I was thinking of installing a bathroom style exhaust fan hooked up to a humidity switch to kick on and exhaust outside. Might not really be needed though...

It is. I know some folks will instal whole house dehumidifiers because of this. My wife is from where you are and says it would probably be a good idea to have some sort of dehumidifier for a large tank.

Yeah that was my original plan then I ended up getting acrylic covers for the tank holes so I figured I might not need it. But in order to run an auto feeder IM going to need to keep one off. Guess IM making another hole in the wall lol

What kind of lights over the tank if MH then some fan will be a good idea keep it away from the tank or the salt water will rust it out quick

I havent noticed any extra humidity from my 180 in the house, but you can really feel it in the garage where the sump is.

Just be careful because dropping the humidity to quick will make you very sick. It does sound like a good idea though. Do you have fans blowing into your hood?

I run an exhaust fan in my fish room with my 250gal. (~300system). It definitely makes a difference in the humidity level in the basement. If you're doing the build it might not be a bad idea to install one just in case.

I would run leds or t-5's and you should not have an issue

IM running both t5 and LED. I can either build the canopy to breath or have exhaust fans kick in with elevated humidity

From doing done reading it seems like fan might be the way to go. Just gotta see if the apex can be configured to detect humidity and enable the fan...
