Apologies if this has already been answered, but.. Are existing powerheads MP10-60 w/ QD compatible with the new Mobius app? I'd assume a firmware upgrade would be required, plus a new app download? Basically just looking for info here.

I’m not sure what’s the earliest manufactured date that is compatible. However, you can open the controller and see what color is the chip at the upper left corner. If it is green, then you need to buy a new chip from ecotech store and replace it. If it is black, then it is compatible. Anyone can correct me if I’m wrong.

Aha! It looks like you can tell via the current web interface -

I got mine working last night. All 4 upgraded through the app. I did have to perform a manual reset of the pumps first to get it to work.

My first attempt without the reset resulted in the pump being detected as a Radion XR30 after the upgrade. Dead pump flashy lights bad words. I reset it and it worked the second time.
So I reset the rest and they all worked the first time.

Just went through this in my thread...
The post said the "black" RF modules for sale on the Ecotech parts store, are NOT compatible, so I don't know if we can conclude a black module is good or not. I used a bluetooth BLE app from itunes store and I didnt see my MP40wQD show up, so concluded I dont have bluetooth on my one.

I can't find clear answer at all which is a disappointing.

Wow, I wish Ecotech would explain much better on their website!

You'd think with all the advertising about "legacy" support for Quietdrive models, they'd tell you its not ALL QD models, only some followed up with links on how to identify if your model will work or not, and what part you need.

The video below will demonstrate how to replace the RF Module in your VorTech or Vectra controller. We will specifically highlight devices containing an older style green RF Module which is being upgraded to the new black RF Module. It's important to note, green RF Modules & green EcoSmart boards are not compatible with Mobius and will need to be replaced in order to be Mobius compatible.

Yeah but thats super confusing...

Both are black colored. So will EITHER work?

You would have to ask them that, It appears to me both have the same part number on them in the pics.
Just shot them an email, I'll let you guys know.

Same part number, one is 2.5x the price...and if its not compatible, then they should put a note on the store...

No offense but the Mobius rollout has gone so well that I bought 2 Tunze 6155s when my tank needed more flow instead of 2 more MP60s. So I have an MP10, 2 MP40s, 2 MP 60s and 2 Tunze 6155s now in my 3 tanks. If these screw up I will buy Jebao pumps and throw them away when they die.

The $48 rf chip seems to be an outdated archived link thats no longer on their website. The $20 chip is the same chip. Ecotech decided that they wanted to provide the rf chips at cost to their costumers to make it easier on the wallet for those with older QDs to become mobius ready. Hope this clears everything up.

That was my hope...which if thats true the compatibility is really if you have a black colored RF module. Not all QD models came with that...such as mine. Seems most began roughly Q1 2017.

Just opened the mobius app and my mp10wQD showed up to be updated. App looks just like the ai app.
