Ok I am in the market to buy an LED fixture and I like the flexibility of the Exo Exotic fixture being able to add the different colors. However has anybody used this fixture? If so have you had much luck with coral growth, specificially SPS. The tank is 30 gallan JBJ rimless. Any feedback would be great, thanks. If not a fan what fixture is recommended, I would say $400 - $450 is about the max I am willing to spend.

The person who owned my tank before me used the ecoxotic fixture. The "flexibilty" they advertise is simply you buying countless $50 stunner strips to change the color to your liking. He bought ALOT of stunner strips. At $50 a piece that adds up fast. Yes he did grow SPS.

I recommend the AI Sol Super Blue or AI Vega. You will need the AI New Controller which is $80 to go with it, but you will have the ability to change the lights color to your hearts content.

Can you change the color on the SOL and the Vega or just the Vega? Thats honestly the fixture I have on the top of my list, but I stumbled and the Exo Exotic stuff and figured I would ask. Do you anything about the LEDtric fixtures? Thanks very much for the feedback.

DIY with Crees is the only way to go IMO! Contact onedesign1 for price he's built 3 for me and far superior to any commercial fixture.

I had 3 panorama pros on my bc29 which was their recommended amount. I didnt have time or knowledge about diy leds. It was barely enough for Lps. I was getting 50 par on the sandbed and 200 par an inch below the water. I was pretty disappointed. Stunner strips are just for accent lighting and don't have enough par for growing corals. My new 40b build I went DIY with crees and a makersLed Heatsink from ledgroupbuy. Very happy. Great growth and colors.

go to Reefbreeders or ledgrowlights.com They have dimmable models that will work in your budget. IT2040 or IT2060 models

I would go with the ai vega. I have seen them on a few tanks and they are really nice. 1 will be fine for your tank. You can change colors on the vega

Yes you can change colors on the SOL. But you only have White/Blue/Royal Blue. You will have more colors with the Vega.

If I were you, I'd get a an AI fixture. They are tried and proven to grow corals. They are the main LED fixture out there along with the Radion. I personally have two Sol Super Blues and I love them.

Thanks everybody for the help.. Still haven't quite made a decision, but it is either going to be one of the AI's or reffbreeders. I think I will be happy with either route, but I do like the cheaper price tag on the reefbreeders. The tank is only the 30 gallon rimless JBJ cube, i am guessing I will need to dial it way down won't I?

I don't know of many AI users that go over 70-80%. You should start at 30% and slowly move up. The new AI controller has a coral acclimation feature so it adds more and more light over a few weeks time until it reaches the amount you program it to go to. Pretty cool feature IMO.
