I agree about maybe moving your coral banded on.

Some small fish you may like:

Possum wrasse - they’re great!
Clownfish of course
Valentini puffer are adorable but will eat small CUC
A fleet of flaming prawn gobies would be amazing

Flaming prawn goby WOULD be amazing but doubt I'd ever get my lower middle class hands on them but heavily considering a manderin goby... I have been seeding my tank with all sorts of pods but waiting for a REEEL established colony for em

A small tank is great for a mandarin but imo only with a well executed feeding programme, I wouldn’t have one without it eating frozen plus a pod feeder setup

Blue spots are very pretty, but I understand they are a colder water fish?
Curiousity got the best of me and yes youre correct with temps in the gulf getting down into the 50s and 60s but i do think theyre relatively acclaimated once they come into the suppliers and LFS.
Mine seemed to do pretty well and seemed happy at tropical reef temps.
I ended up giving him to a reefing buddy. He may still be alive lol.

I would say a tailspot or twin spot blenny, I have a twin spot in my 13.5 G, my midas in my big tank is about 4 inches now, I wouldn't put one in a 20.

Has anyone had experience with the long nosed hawk fish, I'm getting very mixed results.
As far as the midas blenny I think hes probably my first choice but I think it would be a little cramped so somthing else with personality would be cool.

My top choices are
Hawk fish
Manderin
Cherub angelfish
Possom wrasse

Would these work together? I'm sure I'd have to coordinate who goes in first

I’d say the wrasse/angel first, then the hawk, put the mandarin last. The wrasse will compete for copepods with the mandarin so make sure you have a feeding system and aren’t just dosing pods and hoping you have enough to feed them.

I have been thinking about the hawk fish and cherub for sure... what are your thoughts on a midas blenny
I love my pigmy angel and my canary blenny...the pigmy is just so busy In and out of the reef and the blenny is just cool to watch. One thing thats kinda funny...my angel is best friends with my strawberry pseudochromis, they actually play and pal around. Who knew! Also 8 though my bleeny was trying to die, turns out he just likes to lay on his side at the top corner of the tank at bed time.

Just a word of caution, really big coral bands can attack sleeping fish, probably will not be an issue but since all your fish have to be pretty small it’s definitely something to consider
This is true, I had a coral banded shrimp kill and eat a sleeping 6 line wrasse. I think the shrimp was decently well-fed also. I love coral bandeds but there is a slight danger of this, especially in smaller systems I think.

Possum Wrasses are amazing fish and entertaining to watch their beady eyes dart all over the place! The way they move is cute as well. If you get a nice specimen they can be a deep red that’s beautiful.
