I don't have particularly mobile anemones in my tank (RFAs), so I am mostly just worried about fish going into the impeller. Can anyone speak to if I need some sort of guard for this pump if I want to be sure fish don't swim into it? Or is that impossible/rare and it's mostly anemones that are a concern?

Thanks!

yes you should put a guard on it if you have worries.. the space on the sides is definitely enough to catch and blend critters.. the foam ones that come with it work great... but also act as a filter and get dirty in a day or three... I bought some 3d printed covers on Ebay that work great. I know BRS sells some as well.. theirs are more expensive but I think they maybe replacement grills vs grill covers.. not sure.

I can't imagine a situation where a healthy fish would be ingested into the impeller. If you see a fish stuck to the side of a MP10, it's probably on the way out. Perhaps fry would get into some trouble with them, but few of us will lucky to have those swimming around.
