I am fed up with this cyano issue and exhausted all other methods to eradicate it, I had some success with Dr. Tim's waste away but it wreaks havoc on your Alk and I peeled a few acros in the process using it.

I know all about finding the root issues of what is causing it, I'm not looking for those responses peeps but I want to hear peoples experiences with Boyds Chemiclean

I have used it before and it worked. I didn't have any losses but my stuff was ticked off for a couple of days. I would use it exactly as the instructions say though. And another side note that crap STINKS!! So be prepared for that too. But yes it works.

I just used it a few months ago, and it cleared up my cyano completely in 2 days. I have been doing water changes regularly since and it hasn't shown back up

very good product have used it with great success just make sure to account for liverocks water displacement when using it and get some airstones

I used it once or twice with no issues whatsoever. None of my fish/corals seemed stressed, and I never noticed any smell from it, either. If I remember correctly, you have to remove carbon from your filters and turn off your skimmer (Chemiclean will cause it to overflow). hth

I recently used it on my 75 gallon full sps, clams, lps, softies. Worked great and did not have one loss. I only used half the recommended amount since I'm not sure of the rock displacement in my tank. My skimmer impeller went bad and even after fixing it the cyano wouldn't go away. It kept getting worse and was getting on some of my sps and killing them. I wasn't having any nutrient issues either. Heavy skimming, lots of water changes, new RO/DI filters, GFO, I tried everything and the cyano kept coming. A friend recommended the Chemiclean and I used it with good sucess. My tank has been great since.

Worked great for me. Do everything as instructed and you will be fine. No stressing or anything for me either.

Only had one bad experience with it and it was minimal. It PO'd my cyphastrea and a few spots on it died back but it quickly regrows.
If you raise your nitrates to 5-10 before dosing it, it will kill dinos. I was gonna try that when I had an outbreak but raising the nitrates killed them off first.
I am currently trying it in a freshwater planted tank that has some kind of cyanobacterial algae growing in it. Did a double dose in this tank and waiting to see if it works otherwise I'll nuke it with peroxide again.

I've used it without obvious damage, but only as a last resort. It's an antibiotic that does kill beneficial bacteria, just not too much if used as directed.

I've used it on 2 tanks and it was awesome. Cyano never came back either time. Skimmer completely freaked out when I turned it back on both times though. Had to really watch it for a couple of days.

I don't recommend these types of fixes but I've used Ultralife Red Slime Remover with no ill effects. The instructions said you could keep the skimmer running, but I might as well have dumped soap in the water because it overflowed no matter what I did. So, I shut it down. I didn't have any SPS in the tank at the time but I had several types of LPS and some zoas in the tank which showed no signs of stress. I didn't turn off my lights or anything for the 48hrs but I did have to shutdown the skimmer due to overflowing. If I remember correctly I think my Alk dropped a bit but wasn't any SPS in the tank at the time.

its a great product... one of the few "cure" products that actually works. I have used it many times with absolutely no negative effects. If you have an internal skimmer simply take the lid off and let it overflow into your sump for added aeration. No need for an airstone.

Do not do it if you have SPS corals!!!!! I used half the dose and it killed all of my acros! It is not reef safe completely. I also lost my mystery wrasse and purple tang. I called Boyd enterprises on it and they have terrible customer service! I am so upset about I am thinking of hiring an attorney to sue them.

I used it in my full sps tank with no issues. Acros and all, no losses.
