Introduction
I am posting this thread to track a methodology I am testing out using All For Reef for daily dosing of all elements + monthly ICP testing and then dosing Triton base elements after each test based on their recommendations. I like the idea of dosing trace elements in a set amount daily but am unable due to the tank being in the office and weekends/business trips and the like. I also do not want to do water changes for obvious reasons.
The result is a lazy-man's moonshiners methodology.
Premise
The premise of the method is to use Tropic Marin All for Reef for daily dosing of Alk, Calcium, magnesium, and trace elements daily. an ICP test will be sent to Triton every month and elements out of spec will be correctively dosed with Triton BASE elements. This will hopefully allow a stable environment for corals to grow and color without many dosers, manual dosing or water changes.
Methodology
I am using a Neptune trident to test the big 3 and am adjusting the dosage of All For Reef to keep the value constantly between 7 and 8 dkh. In addition on the 4th of every month I will send a water test to Triton ICP and then dose the BASE elements based on their "Corrective" dosing recommendations once results are in. I will be posting monthly updates after the results of the ICP testing is in. The tank size is a SCA 50 Cube with a Fijicube 20 gallon sump. The only filtration on the system is a skimmer and some polyfilter cubes cut up in the sump. Carbon is run occasionally. No water change has been performed since April 4th, 2020.
Tracking Results
Elements will be tracked every month once ICP results are in and tracked in an excel spreadsheet kept on google drive or a similar service. ICP results with be publicly shared via the provided link on the Triton website. Top down pictures of the tank will be provided every monthly update to track coral growth coloration and health. The first post will be the baseline. All major changes such as water changes, dosing other products, changing equipment will be included with a description, date, and amount if applicable.
Feedback on improvements to the experiment or critiquing the premise are welcome!
