Experiment with Canister Filter

So i have a canister filter laying around a fluval 206 or something like that. I decided to put it into play in the reef tank ! mind you i still have a sump running on this tank.

I just want to take water from the display and run it through the filter into the sump.

What should i put in the canister to have more mechanical filtration right now i have only GFO and carbon bags in it.

Live rock works well . small peices

If you really want a polished water. I suggest a polishing pad. They capture the small particles.
