IMG_3143.JPG IMG_3144.JPG Hi guys,

I bought a pair breeder clowns and had them in QT. After a couple of days I noticed a velvet sheen on both and immediately started my medication regimen which consists of Cupramine @ 0.50ppm and Praziquantel @ 2.5ppm. They didn't improve and I saw a bit of slime coming from the gills so I started thinking it was Brook. I immediately did a bath of Acriflavine in the form of Rally, I went a bit over the recommended concentration of 2/3 teaspoon per gallon and let them sit in there past the 70 minutes reccomended (both on purpose) since it was looking bad. This was on Monday.

Today, the female looked worse so instead of waiting the week before a repeated bath, I did it again same process. My confusion is that the female has a blotch now along the lateral so as a preventative I moved them over to a separate QT and added Erythromycin thinking that I may have misidentified the disease.

So basically I'm looking for an expert second opinion, please if you're not sure don't chime in. I usually consult with our local vet but he's been busy and I can't wait. I've narrowed it down to a few diseases, just not sure, it might be a combination of the two.

Brooklynella, Oodinium, Uronema, or Mycobacteriosis. Here are some pics as well...

That’s severe brook and a subsequent infection.

I’d treat with metroplex, furan 2, and kanaplex for 14 days and start ASAP.

Metro treats brook and infections, the others are to curb the infection. You’ll need to act quickly.

Definitely Brook.

You need Metroplex. Dose per instructions for 10 days.

A 5 min FW dip followed by a 90 min bath in acriflavine would also be wise IMO for some temporary relief.

I've already done 2 baths of Acriflavine at 90mins with higher concentration than recommended. They're sitting in Erythromycin right now.

Do you know if there are contraindications mixing Metro with Erythromycin? If so, I'll switch them to another QT with Metro.

Also, I have CP available as well. Would you guys reccomend that instead of Metroplex? And can it be used in conjunction with Erythromycin? Thanks

Not a good idea to mix Erythromycin with Metro. Maracyn is Erythromycin. You can combine Maracyn with Maracyn 2. But be advised it can create a cloudy water situation. Powerhead aimed up at the surface actively rippling the water surface, and an airstone or bubble filter running as well can counteract the drop in O2 from the cloudy water.

Thanks. I'll just do CP and pray to the fish gods, hopefully I caught it early enough.
