Good evening guys,

Just bought a used Hanna phosphate checker. It came with a few reagents but they are expired 10/2015. Can those reagents still be used a get an accurate reading or am I better off buying new ones?

Thanks for the help...

I mean not so much accurate but ive used long overdue phosphate reagents before and they seemed to be inline with brand new ones. But thats my experience

I ended up ordering some new ones. I used the expired ones 4 times in a period of a week and a half. The first reading was .16 and then a couple days later .00 and it has been reading .00 for the last three times I tested the water. Im very sure my phosphates are not 0 since I have a little of GHA in one of my rocks and algae in the glass.

All could also be a false negative in that ur gha is absorbing all ur phosphates. But yes it is a good place to start getting new

I just bought a Hanna checker used. Alk reagent expired 3 months ago. Wasn't sure if anyone had any experience with the alk test. Yesterday it tested 139ppm (7.8dKh) and today after an approx 15% water change the exact same number (I waited more than an hour after the WC to test so everything mixed well).
