Expired phytoplankton?

My mom bought some phytoplankton for her tank and said she got it at a discount at the Store. It expired on November of 2019. I was not sure since phyto is live it would still be viable. In addition looming at the expiration date, it looked like you had to use in one month originally. Is that normal?

Algae barn usually says it should be used within 4-6 weeks of bottling and if it smells rotten, throw it out. It looks like an algae arm product so let’s ask them! @AlgaeBarn

Following because I recently threw away a bunch of phyto that had been about 6 weeks old and didn't know if I could use it or not. Felt like I was throwing away money

The store shouldnt have sold you that product, even at a discount.... Can you message me and tell me which store sold this to you? Also, send me your details and we can get a complementary fresh bottle out.
