Lets continue to help others learn and explain how we accomplish dosing on our systems. Please explain how you meet demands and feel free to ask any questions along the way. I don't mean for this to be a discussion on whats best but just to explain the different ways people go about dosing.

Here is what I do:

Kalkwasser:

I started with just my kalk reactor running all of my top off through it. This did really well and I found it to be really cheap compared to other methods of keeping cal/alk up and it does a great job of keeping my PH over 8 which has always been an issue for me. Kalk is not very expensive to start with and its gonna last me a long time. I have my reactor hooked up to a timer and it mixes the kalk 6 times a day for just a minute. As you can see in the pic, a little goes a long way, I keep about 1/2 cup of kalk in the bottom of the reactor. The trick with kalkwasser is to not let your tank get too much all at one time, 1.25% of your total tank volume is too much and will raise your alk and PH at too fast a pace. Adjustments may need to be made when seasons change to due to more/less evaporation. You want to add it slowly through out the day to ensure you don't raise your PH too fast which is why ATO works so well. Some choose to run their reactors only at night to help with PH drop while their lights are out. Kalk is also reported to bind phosphates and make them more easily removed by your skimmer.

Another tip:

Reactors are not needed to use kalk, it can simply be added to your ATO container at a rate of up to 2 teaspoons per gallon (if you have low demand, start with less). These containers should be covered but do not need to be completely sealed.

Two Part
While kalk supplies a good amount of my needs it doesn't completely keep up with my demand. For this reason I also use two part. I use use calcium chloride from Bulk Reef Supply and make my own Alk part ( Ill add a link to do it yourself two part at the bottom of this post).

To dose two part I set up two dosers from BRS, one for calcium and one for alk. These dosers are set up through my Reef Keeper Lite and dose a small amount every hour 30 minutes apart. They do something like 1.1 ml per minute and come on like 3 minutes at a time.

After testing my water to figure out where I was after Kalk additions I used this free calculator on the BRS website Reef Calculator - Bulk Reef Supply to figure out how much two part I would need to bring my levels up to where I wanted them. Once I knew this I manually dosed raising my alk no more than 1 DKH per day and calcium no more than 50ppm per day until my target levels were reached.

Once the tank was where I wanted it I let it go testing every other day to see how much everything was dropping and set my dosers up meet this need. Testing is still done weekly to ensure things stay stable and adjustments are made when needed.

On left I have a custom container that holds 3 gallons of part 1 and 3 gallons of part 2 with tubing ran through the top to my dosers. The container on the right is fresh water that runs through the kalk reactor via an aqua lifter pump for top off.

Magnesium:

I bought a third doser for magnesium but found I don't have to dose mag that often and it would just be a waste. I test for mag monthly and dose a small amount manually once a week to meet my demands.

I hope this helps people trying to understand dosing a little and I hope others will add what they do to this thread for others to use. I didn't touch on Calcium reactors at all cause Ive never used one but I hope someone will add some info. Ill add a couple links to articles I found helpful over the years along with a do it yourself two part recipe to save you guys some $$$ along the way.

Great info. Thanks for taking the time to write that out.
How do you control the amount of kalkwasser? Are you basing this off of a known evaporation rate? Im thinking about adding this my tank but some days my tank evaporates 32 ounces and then sometimes it's 64 oz. Would this mess up my water parameters?

Yeah your gonna have some fluctuations in evap, some people even use fans to increase evap to get more out of their kalk. It's usually not a problem short term but over time it will be. It's important to keep an eye on things and adjust as needed.

The scary thing for me is not knowing my evaporation rate. I use fans, so one day is different from the next.

In a smaller tank that can be a concern but in a larger tank unless its drastically different you'll probably never notice. For a small tank two part might be easier considering your probably not gonna use too much anyways.

Glad to see you started this thread.

I've been using an Avast Marine Kalk reactor on my new tank. So far, all is well. I've just recent set the reactor up so I'm still testing frequently (every other day) to see what my demand is. I've been adding about 1/4 cup of fresh power every 2 weeks and have been pretty stable so far. I have had to make minor adjustments via 2 part as well as some Mag supplements from time to time, but overall I'm pleased. I've also recently added more SPS frags and a couple of SPS colonies so as their growth starts to take off, I'll be watching this closely for adjustments in kalk power volume additions and 2 part supplementation. I'll soon be adding a clam as well, so it's likely that my consumption rate is going to go up quite a bit in the near future.

I use a calcium reactor myself. Things stay pretty steady and the corals seem to like it.

I do almost the exact same as OP but my kalkwasser is just in the ATO reservoir instead of a reactor and I use BRS for both calc and alk and mag. I dose using two aqualifter pumps and valves to control the flow down to about 3mL per min. The aqualifters are on a digital time and come on 4 times a day for 6 minutes each. Might need to bump up the amount of 2 part though as my levels are starting to fall faster (yay things are growing more).

On my systems I used the diy two part which have stickies here.

I balanced out the tanks with macro algaes and just topped off evaporative water.

I did add a pinch of mrs wages picking lime to top off.

and did very low levels of ferris gulconate dosing as well.

Bob, can you elaborate on ferris gulconate, that's a new one for me.

ah i bet its just a iron supplement since beaslbob doesnt do water changes :)
I use a diff iron supp

I didn't know about the no water changes, Bob I want more details on your system :)

This was an excellent idea for a thread. :)

When I was setting up my SPS tank almost 2 years ago I was trying to figure out a good method for dosing two part. Since I could not find any detailed info on any forums I ended up making my own methods for dosing. Like the OP I use BRS 1.1ml/min dosers, BRS two part, and a reef keeper elite to control them. I also use kalk in my top off at 2 tsp/gal.

I started out my tank just using kalk in my top off at 1/2 tsp per gal and increased the kalk concentration whenever my alk started to drop. I continued to do this for several months until I was at 2 tsp/gal. This is when I started using 2 part. I started with 5ml of each per day. The reason why I chose this number was because when using the BRS calculator, adding 5ml should raise my alk by 0.1dkh according to my tank size. So this means that my alk should go up by 0.1dkh everyday assuming that the corals weren't using the additional alk. When the alk level drops below 8dkh I increase the doser by 5ml/day and then check my alk level 5 days later. This will give the tank some time to stabilize from the change. Typically when testing 5 days later the alk will only have risen by 0.3dkh instead of 0.5dkh, telling me that the other 0.2dkh was taken up by the corals/other living things. When my alk level is above 8dkh then I only test for alk once a week.

I test for calcium every two weeks and always keep the amount of alk and calcium dosed the same. This keeps my calcium level at 420 or more.

For magnesium I try to test monthly and I just put a few tblsp in the sump every week.

I have had excellent results using this method and I really believe that keeping your alk rock stable is the most important factor in getting SPS to grow fast and keep great color.

Fieroguy, that's sounds like great routine, thanks for sharing. I completely agree with you!

I am strongly considering the use of kalk. I have a RR 110 gallon tank and a 5 gallon tank in stand for top off water. I lose about a gallon a day from evaporation. Will kalk be ideal or will water changes be enough? Currently i have duncans coral, acans, several monti caps, frogspawn, hammer coral, blastomussa , toadstool, birdsnest , open brain, scoly , armor of god, hairy mushrooms., ricordea, etc... i made a ato. How :much kalk should i start with. My pump for ato is a maxi jet 4. Would that pump to much kalk in at one time
