I have a T5 retrofit and since installing the aquatic life hybrid fixture, the wires connecting the two bulb sockets are a few inches short of being able to mount on each side of the new fixture. I’d like to run two lower par bulbs for the two retrofit bulbs, but wanted to consult regarding how to extend the wires. I’m guessing this is nothing special? Just clip and solder new wires with shrink around it? What type of wire does they use (feels pretty stuff)? Thanks!

that looks like 18ga but I would think anything 16-22 would work ... solid preferably
I use the heat shrink connectors with solder in the middle ... good luck

Agreed, cut, splice in new wire and heat shrink. I would try match the gage wire with solid wire if possible. The yellow wire insulation should have the wire gage (AWG) listed on it.

Much appreciated kind sirs!

note the lil organizer box top right, those lil deals are what you want ... I top with black heat shrink for added insulation and strength ...remember to slip the shrink over the wire before soldering or twisting
