Extending tank table.

Advice needed please, I need to add a little length to my tank table, the tank is 50cm long but the table is only 45cm, looking for advice on the best method that will properly support the 14 gallon tank.
I have thought of 3 methods, advice on which would be more suited or suggestions on better options, would be great.

1. Glue and strew a block of 5cm wide wood to the end, the table top is 5cm thick

2. use L shaped brackets along the length of the table top , the last 5cm of the tank sits on those.

3. same as 2 but place the brackets a couple of mm lower down, then screw a flat piece of wood to the top of the brackets, tank sits on the piece of wood.

4. Buy a bigger table, prefer one of the above if possible but don’t want to do anything that would leave the tank incorrectly supported.

I would get a top that is slightly bigger maybe 54cm and 2cm thick. Waterproof would be good.

Do you mean to place the bigger top over the existing top?

does it have a plastic rom on the bottom?
I would do what lapin says, and put another top on it, maybe even a little bit longer. (gives you a small work surface) if you're worried about sagging, then add a couple shelf "L" brackets to support the overhang.

Yes and if you use 2cm thick you will not need any "L" brackets
There are many options for a top. Solid wood is pretty but you will be covering it withe tank so only the edge is important

yes 14 gallons, yeah there is a levelling mat attached to the bottom

yeah could work, I’ll also look into removing the existing top and replacing it with a bigger one, the frame of the table is metal so shouldn’t be to hard to do that, thanks for the idea.

just bought this table before the tank, not expecting to use it for the tank but it’s perfect for the tank but for the 5cm shortfall.
