External skimmer install

I'm about ready to hook up my RO sro 2000 ext and had a few questions. Just ordered a 750 gph pump for the feed to the skimmer but curious on the return. The return outlet is about 8.5 inches off the ground to the middle of the return pipe. My sump is 16" tall and I want to plumb over it and straight down to my return chamber (not worried about bubbles). Will the 9" of head pressure matter for the skimmer or should I just bite the bullet and run a bulkhead into the return chamber? I'm putting it where my ato is now.
