So I have been thinking on my planned layout and the space I have set aside for the sump and equipment is going to be pretty tight. It's looking like probably too tight for comfort. I am thinking about adding a weatherproof enclosure and plumbing some things outside.

As long as I use a feed pump that can handle the distance and head pressure, I won't have problems with the external skimmer will I?

Where do you live? Could temperature fluctuations impact the equipment or the water?

Georgia. Hot and cold. I think insulation will be sufficient to prevent freezing?

The sump closet has AC so I think water temperature should be fine. I could add a chiller if it becomes an issue. Been thinking about adding one for peace of mind if the AC went out but that isn't exactly common.

So no issues with an external skimmer as long as I size the water pump appropriately? I've never used one before and that's what it seems like but I figured I'd check for someone who knows :)
