Curious if anybody is running an external sump on an IM 20 and how it’s set up. Want to up my game, and
My filtration, beyond the native slimmer and media racks. Looked into canisters but got a lot of conflicting info. Anybody have thoughts?

I just run an algae reactor on my IM 50 & a external fuge on my IM 20.

I like macros as filtration.

You can drill AIO tanks in the back compartment and add a sump if you want. I have also seen someone remove the AIO section and drill the tank. At that point though, I would just buy a new tank to drill.

I don't see the point of a canister, you can run all that same media in the back compartments of an AIO. A cheato reactor would be a better option than a canister imo.

The one thing that makes me consider a sump is if setting up a Trident, auto water changer, ect. It's a real PITA to try and hide all the probes and lines in a AIO. Otherwise my two 20g AIO's run just as well, if not better than my 21g with a sump.
