What is that purple stuff on your rocks? Where did they come from? What type of sand?

I bought it from the LFS as dried rock That way.

So it is painted to look like it has mature coraline algae on it. You might want to check out BRS 52 weeks of reefing. It can help a lot to avoid costly pitfalls and dead livestock.

Update: LFS is thinking there may be an issue with oxygen so we added a power head. We will see where we are in a week.
