Hello Everyone,

I’m looking for help on what I can do to help my miniatus grouper he is about 5” and still a baby. I was out of town for work the last week and a half, my wife did the best she could and got him to eat yesterday after about a week but like 2 hrs before I came home my harlequin tusk was trying to kill him, these 2 have a beef with each other . My wife was able to keep him from doing so and once I arrived home about 2 hrs ago I put my grouper in the refuge. I have a 10 gallon I’m going to set up as hisQT so he is not getting bullied and I can medicate any advice as far as medicine to help him would be awesome. Here are some pictures.

Well You have a couple options, I always suggest the easiest and work your way down the line...

I personally would start with Epsom salt (1 tablespoon per 5 gals) to see if that will relieve the swelling and get that eye under control. From there you may want to take a look over this write up. It is for pond fish but all the same rules apply when we are talking eyes.

If you are able I would consider also getting some Erythromycin as that will also be focused on that eye treatment. You will find that medication in AAP Myacin (SUPERIOR Erythromycin Phosphate) (this product is a much better choice over the lessor Erythromycin Sulfate found in API Erythromycin or Mardel Maracyn), API Erythromycin from AAP, SeaChem Neoplex (Neomycin) from AAP as the write up reads.

Hope this helps and your Little guy heals up quick!

Thank you for the information, today I’m going to try and get him better starting with the Easiest way like you recommended. I always read information from this forum and with this eye I needed to post instead of just reading information but I am definitely glad I finally joined as a member.
