Hi Everyone!

I’m coming up on 2 years since setting up my first reef tank, a simple 55 gallon sumpless that I run on an internal skimmer.

It hit stability around year one, was dosing two part, when I got lots of coralline and stopped routinely losing LPS frags. However I still wasn’t having success with even simple SPS, and my coral grew very slowly.

About 3-ish months ago I switched from a standard reef salt to Tropic Marin Synbiotic and about a month ago I replaced the two-part with All For Reef. I figured hey, this is an easy way to hit everything I’ve been reading about at once - bacteria dosing, carbon dosing, trace elements, etc etc. if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.

Everything improved in a month. My Monti doubled in size. New SPS test frags are growing within days of entry. Colors on all coral have improved.

I rarely ever give a shout out to a company, but I feel like I have to. It’s effective, but more importantly it’s easy.

All for reef seems more and more tempting with each user who see good results. Rarely see “bad” tanks using all for reef. I also have been tempted by tropic marine carbon dosing products. I am extremely hesitant to move away from two part as I have had good success with it. Why fix what isn’t broke?

There are pros and cons to every method, including AFR. :)

I have neen running A4R on my 20g. Works as well as the 2 part I was using.
Time will tell as its been 6 weeks and everything looks good. To early to tell growth and color but nothing has changed and the tank is still growing.

I 100% agree with you.

They seem unable to design many chemical products to work as claimed, so trying a different one might also be useful if you even want to move away from AFR.

Thank you, I will consider that.

I've been using AFR for a couple months and I am very pleased with it. A couple times I had to dose Alk to bring it back in line but my tank is really starting to take off.
