Hi,
I am going to document my experience with @MarineDepot . I went to marine depot.com a few weeks back to order a sump for my tank. I was really torn between which trigger system sump, yet I found the marine depot elite sump that would fit perfectly and came with some fancy bells and whistles. I thought everything was just going to go swell but well heres how it went.
I paid for my package on 10/5/17
Package was shipped 10/6/17
Delivered on 10/12/17
When I opened my sump I thought everything looked pretty decent.. Until I started to closely examine the actual parts of plastic along with counting the number of parts I had received.
I originally noticed that I was missing the long dosing tube, and reached out to marine depot whom prompltly sent an automated message consisting of "I was able to look into this for you, Please check all compartments, in side the socks, in between the sponges and it should be in there. We do not have any extra if you don't find it. You would have to reach out to trigger systems and the would send out a replacement. Their contact information is [email protected]. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you and have a great day."
This was something I wasn't really expecting to hear after I paid $600 for a product that has the name MarineDepot as the first two words yet the had no extras and it was now my responsibility to contact the manufacturer for missing parts. I was not pleased by this.
Thats the first thing that went wrong.. next it all just continued to go bad.
After a responding to them with basically that I was going to look into returning the sump and finding alternatives if they cant stand by their own product, they then started to get the ball moving and supposably got in contact with Trigger sytems
10/17/17,
I send another email regarding any sort of update or something considering I have yet to receive any type of response or package. After all this free time not setting up my sump or doing anything productive, I really started to look closer into the parts of the equipment and what it actually looked like. I found a piece of one of the down stems as if it was shattered and thrown in the bag, 3 out of the four of them looked finely cut, but this looked as if someone just drove over it. Not the end of the world its a small piece of plastic, I'll just get in contact with Marinedepot again... Next piece I looked at was the actual 1' down stems that the water comes into the sump. How ironic but to find something that looks exactly like the first one and was also really poorly cut/packaged/ attempted to be passed off as a broken downstem...
Now I was even more annoyed its been almost 2 weeks and my $$, time and effort have been wasted for nothing. So I got back in contact with marine depot...
After a few emails back and forth with marine depot they agreed to send me and I quote ' Thank you for the update and the images. To confirm is it two of the Drain pipes and two of the Dosing tubes that were affected? I look forward to your reply to get these out for you as soon as possible. '
Here I am thinking this is it, everything is finally falling into place..
I was wrong
I waited another 4 days with no more responses and still have yet to receive the first package of the long dosing tube that was not included in my order..
10/25/17.. 20 days since I ordered my sump
I send another email asking whats going on with stuff and I got a response saying that trigger had shipped stuff out and I should just wait till it gets here, I was getting a package with the long dosing tube that was sent out first (supposably) and the 2 dosing tubes and 2 drain pipes ..
10/27/17 I receive a package from trigger system that included 2 long dosing tubes, and 2 regular sized dosing tubes.. No drain pipes however. And the dosing tube was supposed to be in the first package.. meaning I have another package not here yet I have the part I needed, but was still missing the drain which should have been in that package not the long dosing tubes.
10/28/17 I go outside to the mail and get one of those bubblewrapped manilla envelopes.. Yet with my luck.. there was a hole in it on the bottom. I opened it up to have absolutely nothing inside. This wasn't too bad considering I did have the long dosing tube, yet I did not have the thing it connects too... just now had a long black tube no connection.
I get back in contact with marine depot and now again.. I am told "Thank you for the update. I do sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. I provided the information that you provided as well as the images. I am not too sure how this may have gotten misconstrued. If you could please contact trigger systems at [email protected] " .... Back to square one. Telling me nearly a month later to contact them myself and not have them do it cause apparently its just my problem now..
Now its been 25+ days and I still have no water in my sump. Thanks @MarineDepot
Another thing to keep in mind for anyone who visits marindepot is regarding comment suppression. I went to review my sump and even after 3+ weeks I have yet to see my honest comment /experience with the sump. Its very interesting to see that since they didnt receive a good review they pretend it never got posted in the first place.
Whether this gets buried or not, I had to share my experience so hopefully people can learn from my mistakes.
