Hi everyone,

I'm planning on building a stand for a 90g frag tank (half of a 180g) with a 40g breeder below it on the left, storage on the right. I've decided on 1530 for the top and legs, 1515 for everything else (fractional).

I think my biggest debate is using center taps/end fasteners with access holes or counterbores and anchors, especially on the legs. The counterbores I think are a little bit stronger, but not by a lot. At the same time, I can do more than one counterbore per item and it will increase the strength a bit more. How many sides need one? Let's take an outside leg to top of the frame connection. That's gonna be two 1530s, end to side. How many of those sides need counterbores?

What about the crossmembers of the upper frame? Are those good with two end fasteners? Or should I use counterbores or something else?

Any insight or especially any articles would be greatly appreciated!

Here's a crude drawing of what I'm going for overall.

Not sure I'm going to use 1530 or 1515 for the 40 breeder shelf. Leaning toward 1515. Either way it will be sandwiched between the vertical supports. I don't really want the two long supports, at least, relying on fasteners. Although it probably wouldn't really matter. lol
