Tried to get some close-ups of mine last night, difficult with this camera though.

My new ones. I think these are awesome but there are many out more out there that are prettier. They were identified as Oxides but none of the oxides I have seen have the white splotches on them.

Here's what they looked like under the standard LED BioCube lighting at the store when I bought them.

After a a week under my LEDs. They seem to like being down low in the sand. They seem to be changing colors. Definitely getting a whole lot more colorful.

Just got these yesterday. They are bright red with a velvety appearance.

What's the trick to getting suck good pictures of your zoas?

Using a lens dipper can help massively as it breaks through the water surface and allows you to dip your lens without it getting wet and you get close and personal with the zoa :)
Yeah I've been researching it a little bit. My problem is when I zoom in close it gets blurry and doesn't focus in.. but I guess I can't ask for too much using my cell phone. ;p galaxy s4

Unfortunately although you can get some great shots using phones you still won't be able to get the same pic as with using a macro lens and a slr

Yeah that's what I figured. I read about people using magnifying glasses... lol

It can be done. You can also get a small macro lens for a dollar or two on ebay. They're only a cheap alternative (if you've got the budget Sony lenses are great too) however I have also seen people get great shots with them.
There are also coral viewers that you can easily place your phone in and take shots from above. If you google little ocean coral viewers it should come up :)
