Hi
I was feeding my fish this morning a noticed some damage to my female clown fish’s eye. My pair have been fighting lately and she has been the aggressor. Could this be damage or disease related?

You can start with an Epsom salt bath and then treat with penicillin or amoxicillin based medication. Furan 2 will work well.

thanks @vetteguy53081 - should I dose Furan 2 as directed?

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
For each 10 gallons of water, empty one packet directly into aquarium. Repeat dose after 24 hours. Wait another 24 hours then change 25% of the aquarium water. Repeat this treatment for a second time, for a total of 4 doses. Then make a final 25% water change and add fresh activated carbon or replace filter cartridge.

I would dose it for each 15 gallons to allow a little flexibility with any reaction. I assume there is No coral in tank? If so, your best bet will be a separate tank for treatment

it's a mixed reef tank so will be putting her in a qt tank. thanks for the help.

I would vote for damage and not disease. I've had several fish get bubble eye through my reefing career. In my case the fish were still eating and were acting fine, they just had a bad looking eye. I wasn't particularly attached to the fish so I didn't do anything and just left them in the tank. Each time. the eye healed on it own and the bubble eye went away in a few weeks. The furan would for sure be a more proactive approach to prevent the eye from getting an infection though.

If it's only one eye it's probably damage, I had the exact thing happen to mine. I just kept an eye on it for a couple of days and it went away.

This is the medication I keep on hand for nasty eye infections that are not responding to any of the above excellent recommendations.

thanks. she's been a bit of a bully so was looking to re-home her anyway. i don't want to do it while she has the eye damage. I have a qt tank freeing up this weekend so will probably transfer the fish from qt into my dt and drop her in the qt until she heals up and give her to a friend
