Over the Thanksgiving break I spent a large amount of time working, maintaining, and just staring at my tank. Earlier this year I upgraded to a T5 hybrid system and now have my blues on longer and more intensely since my T5's are now doing the bulk of the PAR work. Well, I noticed that after the holiday break my sleep schedule as all messed up and my eyes were killing me at night. I thought it might be my time staring at the tank with the LED's on so I purchased some blue-blockers on amazon and WOW what a difference! My eyes don't feel strained at night when I use them when I'm working on (OK; endlessly staring at) the tank. Anyways; just wanted to share this in case anyone else has the same issue!

My son used to like the blues on all night as kind of a night-lite. After months of him not really sleeping well/having problems falling asleep, we found out the the problem was the blue lights. The blue blocks your brain from producing melatonin which makes you fall asleep. Even with your eyes closed, the blue makes your brain think it is daytime and time to wake up. We put a red light in his room and it cured the issue.
Cheers! Mark

I've never had eyestrain from the tank before -- but I find this interesting. I have, however, stopped playing games or spending extended time on my phone or I will have blurred vision for the rest of the night. Your post is good to know if something like this starts to happen in the future. Thanks! :)
