Fair price for large Devils Hand

I have a large healthy Devils hand that I would like to sell or trade but I have no idea what a fair price is. The piece is about 9 inches tall and about 7 inches across the top. I have two that size and I need to free up space. I font want to give it away but I don't want to rip people off either. I appreciate the input.

Personally I'd give it away but you might look around locally to see what other aquarists are selling or have sold frag for and go 10X or 20X the average

jk my tank is barely taller than it.

personally I would probably pay like $50, because not a lot of the polyps are exposed and the outer skin isn't particularly stunning. very nice piece though.

Lol. It's not great filling up your tank with one coral. I have a 100g and it's growing out of my tank.

The local fish store gives me $5 per tiny frag of it. Based on your estimate that woukd price it between $50 and $100 dollars.

Just to put this in perspective most soft corals can release terpenes or growth inhibitors and it seems to me it's realistic to expect a lot of the other corals that are conducting biochemical and biological warfare in out tanks. I'd let online and local prices be the judge of what to sell something for.

If I gave away all of my toxic corals I would have nothing left in my tank. My hammers are far nastier then this thing. Most corals are toxic to a degree.

See if you can sell it for that. You can always drop the price if you don't sell it right away. If you're in a hurry start lower.

I'm never in a hurry with this stuff. The only thing I don't want to do is work to get it removed then have it just sitting in the middle of my tank for a long time. As it sits now it's been there forever so it's fine.

Anyone have any good thoughts on how to remove this coral? It's in the front of my tank which is good and the rock at the base is separated so that is great but some of the back of the stalk is attached to the base of my rock work and can't be removed. Any tips for removing it safely and making sure it doesn't get an infection?

any chance you could just chisel a small part of your main rock off that the coral is attached to? not sure how to do this safely in the aquarium but that is an idea.

Lol. Chiseling in the tank may be a super bad idea. I figure U can use a scalpel and it should be fine. Just not sure if I need ro do anything else.

Large flat head screw driver and a hammer will allow you to keep the rock...

I would just gently peel/rip teh colony off at teh base. It will leave some tissue that will regrow. Gently wedge the colony between 2 rocks or place in a large hole in a rock so it will attach and start to grow. Alternatively use a scapel or razor balde as mentioned above. I wouldn't worry about it getting an infection myself.
