My fairy wrasse had been doing great, the last couple days his swimming was a little off. But now he swims like he's drunk. His tail is all clumped together and he's bouncing on it like a pogo stick instead of swimming. Help! What's going on?

Welcome to Reef2Reef and I am so sorry to hear about your wrasse. I encourage you to also make a post in the Fish Disease Treatment and Diagnosis section and maybe we can get some help for the fish soon.

I can’t tell from the photo, is the tail fin eroded/missing? Severe tail damage is often caused by bacterial infection after some damage.

Is your Lubbocks wrasse a new addition?

Edit: Also, how long has he been in the acclimation box/ container?

Not long, I moved him to the DT from the QT, worried the Params were bad and the little booger jumped out!
I’ve seen similar symptoms in fairy wrasses over the years due to damage from collection or injury from darting into something. Do you have a mesh lid on your DT?

Has fish stopped eating ? If so, what is your ammonia level , as ammonia poisoning (from tap water)can attribute to clamped fins as will non-bleeding Septicemia which I dont believe it is. Stress can also do this if fish is being harassed or intimidated.
Are you using Tap water or RODI water ?

It's not damaged that I can tell, just collapsed together
O.K., if you could post a short video, it might help confirm it, but it is possible that your wrasse is seeing a neurological problem that is sometimes seen with these fish when newly imported. The fish basically spins in a circle or otherwise swims oddly. It may try to eat, but will have difficulty getting the food. Nobody knows what causes this. I think it is a virus or internal bacteria. Some people think it is from the wrasse injuring its spinal column by running into something in the tank - I don't think it is that because the affected fish don't have external damage on their shouts.
I'm sorry, but there currently isn't any treatment for this, other than what yo are doing - supportive care by isolating it.
