Fairy Wrasse disease or not

I've had this blue sided fairy wrasse in QT for over 2 weeks. Two water changes and two doses of prazipro and now I have him in an acclimation box in the DT. He's always had a healthy appetite and been social while in the QT. I never saw any marks while swimming around. During lights out I would see something suspect but I just chalked it up to the beginning of the mucus cocoon. However now that he's in the acclimation box I was having a look around with my flashlight and noticed something suspect. Could anyone with experience have some thoughts to add?

Are there any symptoms?

My wrasses all get those white streaks/blotches when stressed, while sleeping, etc. I see nothing on the fins.
Other than prazi, did the wrasse get any prophylactic treatment?

No other symptoms. Excellent appetite. Real personable for a fish. I bought some copper treatment but ultimately didn't feel comfortable using it especially without him having definitive issues.
 
I only see stress coloration, but I might be missing the focus here too. A circled picture would be great.
It's the little whitish flecks that concerned me. I didn't notice anything definitive while in QT. Apparently there is no lack of energy as he jumped out of my acclimation box while the lid was off for feeding! He landed right in the DT with perfect form. So much for that. So far he's getting along fairly well with his tankmates.

How long have those spots been on the fish? If they’re gone in under 48 hours from appearing they’re probably sand stuck in the slime.

I have a BB but I he could've picked it up off the rocks or perhaps some detritus that shows up on the bottom. He came out to eat later I didn't notice them. I'll continue to monitor as I've never QT'd any of my fish before. All of my current fish are healthy. I did a QT this time because I am so much more invested than when I first began.

For future reference, wrasse are commonly “Typhoid Marys” that bring ich and velvet and other parasites in to the tank. This is especially likely and common with visual observation quarantine.

This because they have very thick slime coats, sleep in mucous cocoons and/or under the sand. This keeps them safe from low level parasites but they still often harbor them, particularly in the gills. So an seemingly clean fish that showed no symptoms in qt for months often bring in even serious parasites like velvet.

I’ve actually had velvet and ich in my wrasse tank and many of my wrasse thrived in “velvet management” which is insane to think about for many, but it shows me just how resilient they can be. I lost a couple fairy wrasse but about 75% of them adapted, I lost no halichoeres nor leopard wrasse. A penciled wrasse was unable to survive. Of course, I didn’t realize it was in there until it took out a butterfly I added. It quickly succumbed and everyone survived another year until a power outage occurred while on vacation and I lost about 50 fish in various systems. Very sad. In fairness, I did quarantine those fish a good month before they died in quarantine under my fathers care.

I don’t recommend anyone try to replicate this I see it as unethical and I’m not proud of it.

Wow, I can't imagine that loss. Thanks for sharing. This was my last fish addition so hopefully everyone stays happy and healthy. And yours as well [emoji4]
