When I set up my tank I told myself many times I would never get a wrasse. I just never liked how they looked, thought they were boring, knew they were aggressive, and just really disliked them in general. Well, two days ago I was looking at my local Petco just for fun and what did I see but not some of the most gorgeous fish, a group of Lubbocks fairy wrasses. I knew fairy wrasses are peaceful and easy going fish which is exactly the kind of fish I was looking for, they'll eat any pests I have, and their low price just called me to get one. So I did.

It is now my favorite fish in the tank, constantly cruising around and curiously looking at me with it's independently moving eyes. It's such a charming individual that I would love to add another. So here's my question, are you able to add multiple fairy wrasses, and if I add one more of this species will it pair off? I read somewhere they're best kept in pairs but I know wrasses can be aggressive towards conspecifics. Or what about adding another of a different species? What do y'all recommend?

I'd recommend giving this a read.

Fairy wrasses probably won't do much for pests, fyi.

As for pairing, no, don't do that. You can mix different species, depending on tank size. Flasher wrasses and smaller members of the Halichoeres genus are also ones to consider.

Everything I was stopping in to say has really already been said. :)
The only thing I can add is:
I read somewhere they're best kept in pairs
That info is out there in a lot of places, but IMO it's all wrong...
