Fairy Wrasse Struggling After Prazipro

I recently got a lunate fairy wrasse who has been doing great over the past week. I have been feeding him a frozen food mix with focus and metroplex. He has been eating well, but still looks slightly thin, although this may be because he is still a juvenile. Yesterday I dosed half a teaspoon of prazipro to my 10 gallon QT, and he’s been struggling since. He’s been hiding, not eating, and kind of gasping for air. I have an air pump running in a sponge that’s under a powerhead to try and break up the air as much as possible. I also did a 5 gallon water change this morning because he was floating at the top gasping. I have read that prazipro can deplete O2 in the water. What other steps should I take at this point?

ADD a powerhead at the surface and heavily agitate the water. ASAP.

Definitely Sounds like an oxygen issue.

Okay, I’ve got two running in there. He’s improved since this morning, but still struggling a little. I don’t have an ammonia test kit, but I have some marine pure bio balls from my display tank sump in a HOB filter that’s on the QT. Wouldn’t think it would be an ammonia problem.

Are they aimed upward and there is a lot of water movement at the surface? I make it look like a river. On all QTS.

Did you actually dose with a spoon? I wonder if maybe the dosage was a bit heavy? It’s 5ml per 20g. So the half TSP would be correct but maybe hard to gauge using a spoon.

Yes, I have them pointer upward and at the surface, they are kind of pulling in air in a whirlpool but I figured that will help diffuse air into the water.

I have a set of measuring spoons for my tank and used them. I’m almost certain I used the 1/2 teaspoon one. Prazipro is a bit thicker of a medication so maybe it was slightly more than half a teaspoon.

If you used a measuring spoon you are probably good there. Just running things through my head...

So the fish is still alive, but it seems to struggle staying upright. He’s kind of just floating around the tank, being tossed around. Still staying around the surface, but not necessarily upright. Possibly a swim bladder issue? He was eating yesterday

Ammonia can be tricky. You should find out to make sure he's good.
