Got the urge to test out my nano reefing after a year of practicing with 140 gallon system. Here is the birth of this build.

This is what this tank started as, a little science experiment.
I had no room to store it, but I had an empty stand that I was storing, so I combined the 2 and made a Ghetto cube, that is a rectangle.
Yay for me! I got to cheat. To test the plumbing (Already knew it wouldn't leak) I filled it with RO water (incase it worked). I had jugs incase it didn't on standby. Then I mixed the salt in the tank, which gave me 13 gallons of new salt water mix.
I mixed that into my larger system and made a 12 gallon withdrawal of established water along with a milkjugs weight of rocks.
I Specifically used ones with no corals so I had no xenia infestation like my Large tank.
The thing about this tank is that out of pocket i spent money on PVC for the overflow and THAT WAS IT. THe rest was extra junk or given to me.
Exactly what it will become, I do not know, but MY principle is this as far as filtration.
I have a nearly mud sand bed that is 2 inches. The entire base is rock free so that no sand is left unexposed.
The egg crate shelf suspends the rocks high enough for even a dwarf lion, if i decide to use this as a quarantine. (not a hospital) I have a 29 gallon tank for this purpose.
My favorite part so far is the SUMP. A 5 gallon pocket with a pump is all I have. I am deciding if I want to utilize a filter sock or not, but that just spends on my livestock choices.
My light is an LED by marine land and is NOT REEF CAPABLE, nor is it the Plant Capable. HOWEVER, I have had it on my community tank for most of its life and Mushrooms thrive under it. Plus the moonlight is EXTREMELY bright, which looks great. I like having a "dark side of the tank" for the benefit of any one who wants it. Plus nocturnal critters tend to hang out there a bit more.
once the water clears up and I clean the glass a little better I will get better Pictures.
