So after 76 days fallow I added my fish back to the tank. It was 2-3 really happy weeks. Then last week i noticed it. Im so sad. The ick isnt bad now because my tank is pretty stress free but its there. I see it on all the fish. A couple dots here and there then they go away. UGH I dont want to do this all over again but I dont have much choice. There are a lot more fish I still want and with this Hawaii closure thing I feel there may be a time crunch. So going fallow again 80 days to be safe. And another 30 days in CP

I did it once, was ich free for a little over a year then it was reintroduced to my system via coral order. I'm done with it myself.

Sorry to hear that.
Fallow is tricky, scientifically the longest ich strain found is 72 days, but several hobbyist report that 76 days didn't get rid of ich. The reasons are either some longer strain ich exists, or the fallow period wasn't performed correctly, and cross contamination occurred during the fallow period. Did you exchange any items between the fallow tank and other tank, and is it at least 10 ft apart from the other tank?

Its close to 10ft, i havent measured but its close. Most likely I cross contaminated somewhere. feeding tools, water change equipment, something like that. Its just a bummer.

I have gone through 2x 76 day fallows, my first was a stupid mistake using the same water siphon in my DT with my HT (used TTM method) when changing water.
Second 76 day fallow, i'm about 1-2 months in from re-introducing my fish and everyone looks great (Blue tang, yellow tang).
There is no better feeling that not seeing that nasty parasite.

I do however spend a good 30 mins head-to-tank staring at my fish in the hunt for ich.
I have dreams about it too........

+1 Also, where did your CP come from?

I'm in the same boat...likely cross contaminated without realizing it. It sounds like you know what to do, as did I, doesn't make it any easier.

I'm going fallow for 90 days this time, to be extra, uber safe.

Going to start my fallow period here soon. Had an outbreak that also caused a secondary bacterial infection that wiped all but one fish out in 2 weeks. Ich got a free ride in on snails from petco. Lesson learned there

Me too.
After years of not, even with no new fish introduced it finaly hit my new tank, don't know from where, but been introducing a lot of inverts and corals from everywhere.

Setting up QT's for fish, inverts and corals today,
Picking up Chloroquine phosphate.

I'm extremely mad at myself for letting these animals go through this.

Good luck OP!

I have more nightmares about my aquarium than anything else! Then I jump up outta bed with my heart just a pounding and go check. Whew! Just a bad dream, that's all!
